The following guidelines are for WordPress customer websites with requirements to integrate with BRIJPAY products and services.
It is your responsibility to ensure backups and security measures are in place.
Security and Backups
It is recommended that your website have regular backups (daily or before any plugin/theme changes) to avoid data loss or prolonged website outage.
WordPress is the No.1 content management system on the internet and as such it attracts a lot of attention from unscrupulous people, taking precautions with your security is of the utmost importance.
We recommend using a recognised solution to help avoid any security issues, “JetPack” is a solution provided by WordPress that we recognise and use ourselves.
System Updates
WordPress is evolving all the time and so are it’s themes and plugins.
As a result you should ensure WordPress is kept up to date.
As Themes and Plugins are managed by third parties, the update frequency is going to be different than WordPress itself.
A Theme or Plugin may contain security risks like any software, therefore it’s important to keep it up to date as you would WordPress, this helps avoid security risks.
The web server being used to host your website is also likely to need security updates from time to time, although less frequently than the above mentioned software.
Please take notice of any security warnings that your security tools or WordPress notifies you of.
WordPress, Themes and Plugins all use a development language known as “PHP”, a common issue is that the version of PHP running on the web server is older than expected, this can be resolved by your server administrator or webmaster.
WooCommerce
You should have already setup and tested your WooCommerce plugin for WordPress, to ensure that it is displaying products (can just be a sample product) and that the checkout process is working as expected.
The WooCommerce products that are imported by the BRIJPAY plugin will not be categorized, you will need to categorize the products as you wish and publish them when you’re ready.
Using product categories in WooCommerce allows you to dynamically show product ranges on specific website pages.
BRIJPAY Recommends
Before BRIJPAY personnel or BRIJPAY software touches your WordPress website, please ensure that you have carried out updates as mentioned above and provided yourself adequate security.
A backup of your website should be taken in advance of any new themes or plugins being installed, this helps prevent your website from being taken down by an incompatibility issue.
BRIJPAY recommends using “JetPack” as a security plugin, it also provides automatic backup services.
If you intend to manage restricted content for your registered website users, we recommend using the “Groups” plugin, which BRIJPAY will soon be integrating with.
